In the Marche the presence of artwork that are part of Roman, Gothic, and Renaissance civilization is remarkable.
Most cities, built according to the Renaissance view of the ideal city, can be found throughout the region.
The Marche Region is bordered by the Adriatic Sea and this allows it to have important fishing ports, trade and contacts with Eastern Europe.
To the West the Apennines make the Marche a mountainous region, and the hills and valleys stretch down to the sea.
Another important neighboring state is the Republic of San Marino, which has about 32,000 inhabitants and is said to be the oldest Republic in the world.
Marche in Italian language is the plural of marca, name that since the Middle Age was given to border areas, entrusted to just one Chief, for military reasons.
In the Marche, Giacomo Leopardi poet, was born in Recanati and Raffaello Sanzio the artist was born in Urbino.

Nelle Marche è notevole la presenza di opere d’arte che fanno parte delle civiltà Romana, Gotica, e Rinascimentale.
La maggior parte delle città, costruite secondo l’idea rinascimentale della città ideale, si trovano in tutta la regione.
La Regione Marche confina con il Mare Adriatico e questo gli permette di avere dei porti importanti per la pesca, il commercio e i contatti con l’Est Europa.
Ad Ovest gli Appennini rendono la regione montuosa, ed ai suoi piedi si trovano colline e valli che si estendono fino al mare.
Un altro importante confinante è la Repubblica di San Marino che ha circa 32.000 abitanti e si dice che sia la più antica Repubblica del mondo.
Marche in italiano è il plurale di marca, nome che dal medioevo in poi veniva dato alle zone di confine, affidate per motivi militari ad un solo capo.
Nelle Marche, a Recanati è nato Giacomo Leopardi, poeta, e a Urbino Raffaello Sanzio artista.
